httpd.site – Privacy Policy
Effective date: November 7, 2025 (Saipan, USA)
Contact: hey@eucon.edu
httpd.site turns your Android device into a local HTTP/WebDAV server. We designed it to be local-first, minimal, and privacy-respecting.
1) Summary (TL;DR)
- No accounts. No ads. No analytics SDKs.
- All files, settings, and logs stay on your device.
- No outbound data is sent to us. We never sell or share data.
- You control and can delete all app data at any time.
2) Data We Handle
On-device only (never sent to us)
- Server settings (mode: PRIVATE / EXTERNAL, root path, port)
- Local access logs (if enabled), recent paths, and UI preferences
- Permission state (e.g., whether All files access is granted)
Note: If you enable Android system backups, your OS/account provider (e.g., Google) may back up app data under their policies.
Data you choose to send
If you email support, we’ll receive your email address and any info you include (screenshots, logs, device details you share).
3) Networking & Scope
- The app listens locally for HTTP/WebDAV requests on your chosen port. It does not initiate connections to third-party servers.
- Access is limited to your local network (Wi-Fi/LAN/tethering) unless you deliberately expose your device externally.
- PRIVATE mode serves only the app’s internal sandbox. EXTERNAL mode serves the folder(s) you explicitly select or allow.
- httpd.site does not scan the entire device; it only enumerates paths you open/serve.
4) Android Permissions (Purpose)
android.permission.INTERNET— Accept HTTP/WebDAV requests on your device. No outbound tracking calls.android.permission.WAKE_LOCK— Keep the CPU awake so the server stays responsive while running.android.permission.MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE(Android 11+) — Optional “All files access.” Used only if you explicitly grant it to serve broad external storage in EXTERNAL mode. Otherwise, the app relies on the system picker (SAF) and persisted URI permissions for the folder(s) you choose.android.permission.READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE/WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE(Android 10 and below) — Legacy access for serving files from external storage.
Compatibility flags: requestLegacyExternalStorage may be present on older Android versions to preserve expected storage behavior. This does not transmit data.
We do not request or use contacts, camera, microphone, precise location, or Bluetooth permissions.
5) Data Sharing
- No selling, renting, or sharing of personal information.
- No advertiser SDKs and no third-party analytics libraries.
- We may disclose information only if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and integrity.
6) Retention
- All app data remains local until you clear it or uninstall the app.
- Support emails are kept only as needed to resolve your request and for legal/operational reasons, then deleted or archived securely.
7) Security
- Processing is local. The app does not phone home.
- HTTP/WebDAV is unencrypted by design for LAN simplicity. Use only on trusted networks. If you need encryption, place the device behind a trusted reverse proxy/VPN that adds TLS.
- We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures; however, no method of storage or transmission is 100% secure.
8) Your Controls
- Stop server at any time inside the app.
- Delete data: Settings → Apps → httpd.site → Storage → Clear data, or uninstall the app.
- Revoke “All files access” in Android Settings if previously granted.
- Email us to delete any support emails you sent.
9) Children’s Privacy
httpd.site is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
10) Regional Notices (GDPR / CCPA)
Because the app stores data locally and does not send personal data to us, typical access/erasure/portability requests usually do not apply to on-device content we never receive. For support emails, you may request access, correction, or deletion via hey@eucon.edu. We do not sell or “share” personal information as defined by CCPA/CPRA.
11) Changes
We may update this policy to reflect app or legal changes. We will post the revised policy with an updated Effective date.
